Pastor's Latest Blog Entry: Scripture References:
Isaiah 30:18-21 18 And therefore will the LORD wait , that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted , that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. 19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more : he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry ; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers : 21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying , This is the way, walk ye in it , when ye turn to the right hand , and when ye turn to the left .
- In this text, we see that the Israelites had turned away from the Lord. They were coming up with their own agendas, that were not of, or from God. They were making allegiances with the Egyptians, instead of to God. Now that's dirty! Why would we as a people want to go back to old things, after God has delivered us, and set us free? The Egyptians were making promises to be their protectors. In essence, they made promises they could not ever keep. God, however is the only one that can and will keep His promise. Moreover, this shows a lack of the Israelites allegiance to God. You know you are in a bad place, when you don't want to hear from God.
- There is however a transition to this story. Found in verse 18, We see the patience of God to wait on us, even in the midst of our sins. What I find amazing about this, is that God would want to wait on a people that had blatantly rejected Him. What an amazing example of patience and love by our God. But in God's waiting process, He will cause calamity, and distress, and all other kinds of trouble to get us on our knees; to acknowledge Him, and His way for our lives.
- God is waiting, and wanting to show Grace (unmerited favor) towards us. He is looking, expecting, and longing to be gracious to us. What a loving God He is! He lifts himself to show His loving kindness. Here is the result of this love. So, blessed are we that wait on His way, His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His unbroken companionship. God is wanting for us to experience this. First, though, We have to acknowledge Him, and that "His Way Is The Best Way!"
